The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has withdrawn its Class 8 social science textbook, Exploring Society: India and Beyond (Part II), after controversy over Chapter IV on the judiciary. The council issued an unconditional apology, stating the content on judicial corruption and case backlogs was inappropriate. Following a suo motu court intervention, all physical and digital copies were removed, and the chapter will be rewritten in consultation with authorities to ensure accuracy, sensitivity, and responsible educational content.
